Abstract

HIV epidemic in Indonesia is among the fastest growing in Asia. This situation requires proper ART treatment.  The need for antiretroviral treatment (ART) to cope with the situation ranges from 30,000 in 2008 to 87,000 in 2014. Only 24% of this estimation is eligible for ART.  There is pressure on the constrained budget for HIV/AIDS control in Indonesia.  There is a need to deliver and scale up cost efficient ART. How do we achieve this? If we are going to scale up ART, where is the ideal location? These are the main questions to be elaborated in the article.  The shortage of cost is the big challenge for government  to integrate the HIV/AIDS  response within the National Health System.
