President John Dramani Mahama on Friday said Ghana had the potential to reduce the incidence of HIV and AIDS new infections to zero per cent if proper regulations are adhered to.
He said currently, government had managed to reduce the prevalence rate of new infections from 12,000 to 7,000 new infections for the past few years, whiles the national prevalence rate had also reduced from four per cent to 1.3 per cent at the same period.
President Mahama said this when Mr Michel Sibide, United Nations Executive Director called on him at the Flagstaff House, Kanda.

BEKASI - Ratusan orang pecinta sesama jenis di wilayah Kota dan Kabupaten Bekasi, dinyatakan positif terserang virus HIV/AIDS. Penularan penyakit yang belum memiliki obatnya saat ini akibat hubungan seks sesama jenis.
Perlu diketahui komunitas homoseksual dan lesbian di Kabupaten Bekasi mencapai 1.000 komunitas dan Kota Bekasi mencapai 500 komunitas.
Dan kini yang positif mengidap HIV AIDS untuk komunitas homoseksual di Kabupaten Bekasi sebanyak 70 orang, sedang dari komunitas homoseksual di Kota Bekasi ada 50 orang yang mengidap penyakit tersebut.

Gaborone — Today, the Botswana High Court ordered the government to provide anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment to HIV-positive, foreign prisoners at state expense.
The court held that the denial of ARV treatment to foreign prisoners violated their constitutional rights.
"This court decision has affirmed that the government is legally obligated to immediately provide life-saving ARV treatment to foreign prisoners living with HIV.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has called for more concerted efforts among all stakeholders to contain the high HIV/AIDS prevalence rates in Samburu County. She said it was unacceptable for a County of 254,997 people to register 461 new HIV infections every year.
The First Lady spoke when she handed over the third fully kitted 'Beyond Zero' mobile clinic to Samburu County at Kenyatta stadium in Maralal town.
She said, "Statistics show that as at the end of 2013 there were a total of 6,883 people living with HIV in Samburu County of which 13% were children. The report show women bear the brunt of the HIV/Aids scourge as the prevalence rates among them stood at 7.1% compared to that of men which was 4.3%."

TEMPO.CO, Malang - Penderita HIV/AIDS dari golongan gay di Malang terus meningkat. Dari total populasi 4.500 golongan gay, sebanyak 102 terinfeksi HIV/AIDS. Pada Juli lalu sebanyak empat orang terdeteksi HIV/AIDS dalam voluntary counselling and testing (VCT). Jumlahnya meningkat dari sebelumnya, antara dua sampai empat orang per bulan. "Penderita meningkat karena kesadaran mereka memeriksa kesehatan reproduksi juga naik," kata Ketua Yayasan Ikatan Gaya Arema (Igama), Andy Supaty, Jumat, 22 Agustus 2014. Mereka yang terinfeksi HIV/AIDS mendapat pendampingan dan menjalani perawatan kesehatan di sejumlah rumah sakit. Terutama rutin mendapat obat untuk menambah daya tahan atau kekebalan tubuh, ARV.
