More than 30 percent of young males who had sex with other males and who were subsequently enrolled in a government treatment and research network were found to have high levels of HIV, reported researchers from the National Institutes of Health and other institutions.
The health status of the study participants, who ranged in age from 12 to 24 years, was monitored as part of their participation in the Adolescent Medicine Trials Network for HIV/AIDS Interventions (ATN). The ATN provides medical care to youth with HIV and offers counseling and, medications, and other preventive measures to youth who are at risk of acquiring HIV. As part of their participation in the network, the youth have the option of taking part in research studies of the latest methods to prevent people from acquiring HIV and to treat those who have become infected.

[JAKARTA] Sosialisasi penggunaan kondom kepada masyarakat terutama kelompok berisiko harus dilakukan terus-menerus untuk mencegah penularan HIV/AIDS dan penyakit menular seksual lainnya.
Berdasarkan data Komisi Penanggualangan AIDS Nasional (KPAN), sekitar 77 persen penularan HIV/AIDS terjadi melalui hubungan seks.

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta--Pemerintah Kabupaten Gunung Kidul didesak segera menyusun peraturan daerah demi menekan kian rawannya praktek prostitusi terutama di kawasan wisata pantai yang tersebar di pantai Gunung Kidul.
Kepala Kepolisian Resor Gunung Kidul Ajun Komisaris Besar Polisi Faried Zulkarnaen menuturkan, pasca penutupan sejumlah lokasi prostitusi di kawasan Pantai Parangkusumo Kabupaten Bantul penghujung tahun 2013 lalu, pihaknya mendeteksi sejumlah titik pantai Gunung Kidul mulai rawan digunakan sebagai ajang pindahnya praktek prostitusi itu. Diantaranya Pantai Krakal, Pantai Indrayanti dan sejumlah titik di kawasan kecamatan Panggang.

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, in collaboration with MTV and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation on Wednesday held a VIP screening of a TV series, Shuga, at the Silverbird Cinemas, Abuja.
The event was attended by the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu; the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Ifeanyi Okowa; Chairman of the Senate Committee on MDGs, Ali Ndume; the President of the Association of Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) Oladipo Ladapo; as well as the National Coordinator, Network of People with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) Edward Ogenyi.
