MESKI resmi ditutup tahun lalu, ternyata eks PSK yang tinggal di eks Lokalisasi Tambakasri masih saja ada yang terjangkit HIV/AIDS. Hal itu diketahui setelah dilakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan. Hasilnya, seorang pekerja di warung musik positif terjangkit virus mematikan itu.
Pemeriksaan kesehatan itu dilaksanakan pada Sabtu lalu (17/5). Semua mantan PSK dan mucikari dikumpulkan di balai RW VI Tambakasri, Kelurahan Morokrembangan. Total ada 50 orang yang mengikuti pemeriksaan. "Saat itu hanya pemeriksaan. Hasilnya belum diketahui," jelas M Arif An, anggota Pokja HIV/AIDS Kecamatan Krembangan, Rabu (21/5).

Jember – Jumlah penderita HIV/AIDS di Kabupaten Jember, Jawa Timur, mencapai 1.500 orang dan tersebar merata hampir di 31 kecamatan di kabupaten setempat.
Koordinator Konselor Klinik VCT Rumah Sakit Daerah dr Soebandi Jember dr Justina Evy Tyaswati, Kamis, mengatakan jumlah penderita HIV/AIDS di Jember cenderung mengalami peningkatan setiap tahun dan pasien tersebut terdeteksi saat melakukan pemeriksaan di klinik VCT setempat.

The Gorontalo Legislative Council (DPRD) is deliberating a draft regional bill on HIV/AIDS prevention and control that includes both administrative and criminal sanctions for any parties discriminating against those with the condition.
The head of the council's special committee (Pansus) deliberating the bill, Syarifuddin Mobiliu, said on Thursday that the draft bill contained at least 19 articles, including sanctions on discriminative behavior against people with HIV/AIDS.

LAOAG CITY, May 22 (PIA) - The Provincial Health Office (PHO) will organize a health forum to bring into the fore the rising cases on Human Immunodeficiency Virus/ Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in the province.
Dr. Artemio Gambalan, PHO officer-in-charge, said a HIV and AIDS Congress is in the works to make the public aware of the need to prevent the spread of the disease.
Gambalan said the public should be vigilant in their activities noting that the highly-infectious disease can also be acquired other than sexual contact.

Nairobi, Kenya: Kenya recorded a drastic decline in the prevalence of communicable diseases between 2000 and 2013 even as non-communicable ones continue to wreak havoc.
Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia revealed that HIV/Aids prevalence declined from 13 per cent in 2000 to 5.6 per cent in 2013. The number of new cases of HIV, according to Macharia equally declined from 166,000 in 2000 to 91,000 in 2013.
"The rate of transmission of HIV from mother to child has also been on a steady decline even as we aim at achieving our national goal of eliminating mother to child transmission of HIV to ensure a HIV free generation," said Macharia yesterday while addressing members of the World Health Assembly ( WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland.
